A key aim of Nano2Life is to enable a durable integration of European researchers in nanobiotechnology. Both geographical fragmentation and the limited communication across previously discreet scientific disciplines are challenges to be overcome. To support these objectives Nano2Life promotes a number of mechanisms: the mobility programme, different workshops and the equipment and expertise database. As all partners possess wide-ranging scientific and technical expertise and a range of state-of-the-art equipment, resources and facilities should be shared. To support this aim, Nano2Life has developed a mobility programme for the exchange of researchers among the participating institutes. Research collaborations are held up via financial support to travel and to enable access to expertise or facilities of another member. Therefore, researchers within the network can consider that they are now part of a larger virtual European nanobiotechnology research facility, where Nano2Life is an enabling network to minimise the limitations due to geographical barriers. Database Lists Equipment and Citations The searchable database of research facilities and expertise is another useful tool available within the network. It comprises a catalogue of nanobiotechnology relevant equipment and citations from Nano2Life members. Thus any individual researcher can easily determine which institute(s) could be contacted to complete his / her research. Similarly, the database can provide new ideas to determine the optimal research collaborators. Summer - and research schools focus on the latest issues of diverse fields of nanobiotechnology. Hot topics and a small number of participants guarantee a highly effective outcome for the education as well as for networking among the cooperating people. Last but not least the PROGRESS Course is a tool for multi-cultural and equality oriented human resource management. It addresses leadership issues in combination with empowerment.
